About Backroom Exit

Backroom Exit is a first-person escape game set in the eerie emptiness of the Backrooms — a disturbing world of yellow walls and corridors that keep going. Your objective is simple to state and hard to accomplish: find the exit. Getting there means exploring the environment properly rather than wandering it, searching for hidden objects and gathering clues that gradually explain the mysteries around you. There is an inventory to manage, which you scroll through, so items you find have to be carried and used in the right place rather than triggering automatically. The tension comes from the emptiness rather than from anything chasing you, and the scale of the corridors does most of that work.

How to Play

Move with the WASD or arrow keys and rotate the view with your mouse. Left-click to interact with objects and use the mouse scroll to swap between items in your inventory. With TouchScript on a touch device, use the joypad to move. Search for hidden objects, gather clues and find the exit.

Tips & Tricks

Map your route mentally as you go — identical corridors are the real hazard here, not any threat in them. Pick up everything you can interact with, since the inventory exists precisely because items are used away from where they are found. When stuck, return to a place you could not open rather than exploring further.
